DuckCon 6 in Amsterdam is just a few weeks away! Here’s a sneak peek of a small part of my presentation about the new Airport extension, which integrates Arrow Flight with #DuckDB.⁣ ⁣ This screenshot demonstrates how Airport and Arrow Flight can provide scalar functions that execute remotely and in parallel. In these screenshots I’m using an Arrow Flight server written in #Python being called by the DuckDB CLI. ⁣ The geocoder database is attached by saying its of type Airport. This database offers two schemas each with a few scalar functions, geocode.weather.geocode() is one, that queries the Geocoding service at open-meteo.com to retrieve latitude and longitude data for a location. Another function, geocode.weather.current(), takes a lat/long pair and returns the current weather conditions.⁣ ⁣ If you’re interested in learning more reach out to me and be sure to come to Amsterdam or watch via Youtube. All the details are here: https://duckdb.org/events/2025/01/31/duckcon6/
